Dr. Nimmagadda serves as the Chief Medical Officer of CMS. She is responsible for overseeing clinical and medical management across the organization.

With nearly three decades of experience in healthcare, as both a practicing internal medicine and infectious diseases physician and a healthcare executive, Ajani has a strong foundation in driving clinical outcomes, quality of care, and healthcare affordability. Her expertise across the healthcare ecosystem—with patients, providers, and health plans—is instrumental to helping CMS fulfill its mission of helping all stakeholders achieve their home care goals.

Prior to joining CMS, Ajani held various leadership positions at Cigna Healthcare, where she managed comprehensive medical and pharmacy utilization programs and specialized drug clinical programs, including gene therapies.
Ajani earned her medical degree from Guntur Medical College in India and completed her fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases.
